LYNX Workstation Configuration Guide
LYNX operates on HP, IBM, SGI and SUN workstations. The following configurations can be used to aid the set up of an optimal installation for LYNX software. Other factors such as multi-user access, networks, existing hardware or configuration requirements for other software packages will affect final configuration decisions. Please confirm final configurations with a LYNX representative. The following configurations constitute the minimum requirements. These may be used to approach equipment vendors to obtain appropriate quotations:

Peripheral Device Requirements
A LYNX installation requires a plotter, a printer and a digitizer. Workstations may have peripheral devices attached via serial or parallel interfaces or via a network.
Plotter: LYNX software supports the HPGL and HPGL/2 pen plotter language. This means that HP plotters are supported by default. Other types of plotters may be compatible through the use of HPGL emulation. This can generally be achieved by either software emulation filters or hardware emulation in the plotter itself. Talk to your LYNX representative to find out whether your existing plotters can be supported.
Printer: Any printer supported by your UNIX workstation may be used by the LYNX system for report generation. LYNX software also has the ability to print report quality graphics to postscript printers and PCL printers (HP only). See your LYNX representative for assistance in planning your printer configurations.
Digitizer: GTCO, CALCOMP 9500, Summagraphics/
Microgrid or KURTA, D or E size (A1 or A0); serial interface. All Digitizers
require 16 button cursors.
